About GEDC

GEDC Global Engineering Deans CouncilEncouraged by and under the legal umbrella of the International Federation of Engineering Education Societies (IFEES), the Global Engineering Deans Council (GEDC) was created on 9 May 2008 in Paris

The main goal of the GEDC is to provide engineering deans and rectors with ideas, tools, and "best" practices necessary to become innovative leaders of engineering education.


To enhance the capabilities of engineering deans to transform schools in support of societies in a global economy.


To serve as a global network of engineering deans, and to leverage on the collective strengths for the advancement of engineering education and research.


The GEDC is expanding its membership. According to the by-laws, GEDC membership shall comprise a person-in-charge of: an engineering college, school or faculty in a university or institution of higher learning; an education institution of higher learning that is primarily focused on engineering education and research; engineering deans councils in respective countries and/or regions; or industry leaders that identify with the mission and vision of GEDC. Currently the GEDC has members representing over 30 countries from all continents.


2013 GEDC Conference provides an environment and a platform for world's leaders in engineering education to enhance their partnerships by getting together and harnessing their experience, knowledge and expertise to collectively address issues and challenges confronting global and local engineering educators.
